Lake Goodwin Pool Party!
Located in Lake Goodwin this property was fully renovated to host a proper pool party! With the ink barely dry on the purchasing contracts of this home Garden Girl was hired to transform this “Clean Slate” of a back yard into a Stay-cation wonderland, therefore completing the second Garden Design and installation project for these clients.
Custom garden beds filled with ornate grasses and native shrubs line the decorative blue stone walkways from the 20 x 20 in-ground pool to the 16’ x 24’ - 2 story Cedar Clad additional dwelling unit. One could easily say that this backyard is a recreation lovers dream, and features both an outdoor fireplace as well as a built in natural stone bonfire pit fitted for 6. It’s scenic views host towering Cedars and Hinokis above the pool that were brought in and installed at 10’ that create a private wooded atmosphere without forfeiting the openness of the onlooking deck and expansive lawns.
This outdoor oasis is fitted for any occasion from summertime sunbathing to fall family bonfires!

The clients contacted GardenGirls for a mid-century modern landscape design that would complement their lifestyle. As a young professional couple who work from home and like to entertain, they wanted a comfortable backyard where they could gather around a wood firepit, grow herbs, have green space for their dog to run around with beautiful garden beds to attract birds, bees, and butterflies.
The master plan was divided into phases.
Phase one included:
1. Grading the backyard.
2. Building a block retaining wall for a lower-raised vegetable garden.
3. A new patio.
4. Planting beds.
5. A firepit.
6. Pathways around the perimeter of their home.
In collaboration with GardenGirls, Pacific Pine Landscaping installed the Tech-Bloc Para patio slabs in greyed nickel, a choice that exudes modernity and elegance. The clients opted for the Costco Paragon Lugano Louvered Aluminum Pergola, a versatile choice that offers the best of both worlds.The adjustable louver shades allow them to control the sunlight, making it a perfect space for extended family gatherings.
Unlike a traditional pergola, this design ensures the space is usable throughout the year, enhancing the functionality of their backyard landscape.The nursery stock was selected after careful consideration of their growth patterns, bloom times, and wildlife-attracting properties. The goal was to ensure four seasons of color and to increase By having raised beds next to the patio they are able to harvest herbs for their latest recipes

Historical Home in Snohomish, WA
This historical home located in Snohomish Washington checks all of the boxes for peaceful relaxation, functionality and aesthetic and will be featured in the Snohomish Garden Tour in 2021. These fabulous property owners not only get to enjoy the shade of under cover parking lined with boxwoods, but also get to enjoy the cover of the pergola while entertaining guests in the summer months.
Additionally, the front porch features a secluded seating area perfect for sipping a coffee or tea, designed details in this area include aesthetic touches such Frank Lloyd Wright styled planters. With sustainability in mind, this project also includes planter boxes for herb and vegetable gardening.

A memorial garden across generations
This project is a meaningful tribute filled with symbolic touches that honor a family’s enduring legacy across generations. The two tall stumps represent the family’s first generation, who settled in the rainforest in the 1800s. Recently, when the family’s second-generation grandparents—both in their 90s—passed away, Garden Girl wanted a way to commemorate the family’s lasting impact on the community and beyond. With access to heavy equipment and a large property, the family carefully chose a substantial cedar rootball to symbolize the second generation, moving it with two excavators near Lake Quinault and finally bringing it to rest at their home.
Surrounding the rootball are blue hydrangeas, representing the third generation of five adult children. These hydrangeas are a meaningful choice, as they grow along the south shore road of Lake Quinault, planted by the very first generation. The third generation went on to have nine children—symbolized by nine rhododendrons, Washington's state flower. And finally, the newest generation is represented by wildflowers throughout the memorial garden.
In the summer of 2024, a member of the third generation celebrated 50 years of marriage, bringing family and friends together for a joyful reunion of over 250 people. The memorial garden offered comfort and became a warm point of connection, especially as they held a private service for their father just days before. This project has been a true labor of love, honoring a legacy of compassion, humor, and deep roots. May we all leave behind something as meaningful for those who come after us.

A unique project for Garden Girl, this Snohomish property is owned by a client who was seeking a natural safe haven from their high tech career. Often taking calls in the middle of the night, and traveling to various locations throughout the world, this client needed a retreat that they could enjoy no matter the time of day or year. Each plant in this scheme was selected to ensure no toxicity to wildlife, and with intention to increase bee population along with looking great 365 days per year!
